So I'm watching a video on YouTube where a woman mentions that Tyra Banks recently decided that she's going to go all natural (in terms of her hair). She then decides to give her opinion basically saying that if a "natural" hair-ed woman doesn't actually SHOW her hair then she must not be fully representing her natural self. Now, this particular YouTuber has insinuated to things like this in the past, which, in all honesty, pisses me off!
Who said that a Black woman can only say she's natural if she's rocking a fro or having her hair out all the time? I wanna know who made that rule? Cause I call bullshit! If a woman has her NATURAL hair under a weave, I personally still consider her to be natural. If she has her NATURAL hair in braids still means she's "natural."
I find it incredibly small-minded for certain Black women to look down on other Black women because the latter doesn't equal up to the absurd standards of the former. So because I'm rocking my hair out right now I'm considered a "natural sistah" but if I put in a weave or glue on a lace front wig tomorrow then I'm not really representing my natural self? Does anyone else see how straight up stupid that sounds?
I can't be the only one.
OH! And this woman (the one in the video) is applying "Kinky Cury Curling Custard" to her hair. Now I don't know all the ingredients in that product, but I'm pretty sure they're not 100% natural/organic. So, unless she's ONLY putting in ALL organic products in her hair, who is she to judge others who may not want to rock a fro all the time? And not just her, obviously, this goes all to all the women out there with this same diluted frame of mind.
